Booking Form

Booking guide

Step 1

Follow our detailed guide here to ensure you have correctly exported all of your stems according to our requirements.

We recommend that you test that the files are playing back correctly by exporting the tracks from your main project, then importing them into a new DAW project.

If you have any other questions please check our FAQ before getting in touch.

Step 2

Visit the booking form here to build the mixing package that best suits your needs for the required amount of tracks.

Select any additional services that you may need before submitting the order.

When you book your mix, please provide us with detailed mix notes regarding production style, effects and reference links to songs you would like the mix to emulate. These details help ensure that we will meet your expectations for how you would like the mix to sound.

If you would like to book multiple mixes, such as for an EP or Album, repeat steps 1 and 2 to suit the requirements of each specific mix and submit them as a separate order. Any eligible discounts will be applied to your invoice when you receive the order confirmation email.

Step 3

Once you have submitted your order(s).We will review the files before commencing the mix and will contact you if there are any issues.

Once your order has been confirmed, you will receive your invoice and order number via email.

Please make payment into the account listed on the invoice. After we have confirmed receipt of payment, we will email you the target date for the delivery of the initial mix.

Step 4

We will start working on your mix! The initial mix is usually delivered to you within 7-10 working days. Rush orders within 2 days. After which we can discuss any changes or revisions you may need.

Step 5

You will receive a link via email to listen and offer any feedback on your mix.

Mix revisions are free within the 14 day timeframe from the initial mix delivery.

Please ensure you offer feedback within a timely manner. If you request revisions past this date, an additional fee will be incurred per revision.

Step 6

Once all parties are satisfied with the final product, your order will be marked as complete and you will receive your files via email.

We will not store any files for the mixes after 30 days from final delivery, so please ensure you have made secure file backups.

File format requirements

File Format

We require WAV or AIFF files at one of the following sample rates: 44.1KHz, 48KHz, 88.2KHz or 96KHz

We recommend choosing a bit depth of 24 or 32 Bits.

If your DAW has a normalise option when bouncing, please make sure it is turned OFF.

Make sure to check the format of tracks, they should be either mono or stereo.

If you have MIDI instruments, please convert them into audio files.

Headroom

Make sure the audio tracks do not clip (exceed 0dBFS). If necessary, pull the faders down on tracks or reduce the gain on the regions before exporting.

Ideally, we would like audio gain levels to be averaging around -18dBFS, with peaks less than -6dBFS.

Alignment

Tracks should be bounced from bar one, regardless of any silence, so that they are all perfectly aligned from the same point.

Effects & Processing

We ask that you please supply audio files dry, without any processing, such as EQ, compression, reverb or effects.

However, if you feel that a specific effect, processing or creative elements (filter sweeps, delays etc.) are an integral part of the production, then please provide a two versions of the track. One with the processing, and another clearly labelled ‘DRY SAFETY’ without the processing, when you submit your project files. Any audio tracks with this label are exempt from the overall track count and will not increase the price.

Editing

Vocal and instrumental takes need to be organised and comped, without clicks, pops, or unwanted noises.

They should be tuned and time adjusted to their desired amount and silent sections stripped.

It's not advisable to send raw, unedited tracks for mixing.

If you're unable to complete this task yourself, we offer editing services for an additional fee during the booking process.

Panning

If you've already set your panning exactly as you wish, please send us the tracks without panning and provide notes on how you want them positioned.

Just include the track names and their panning positions in the file name, for example "Lead Guitar - 75 Left" or "Rhythm Guitar - 30 Right.”

Automation

If it’s a vital part of your production and sound design, please keep automation turned on. In this case, all types of automation, like volume, modulation, EQ, reverb, and delay, should be left active.

On the other hand, if it’s not entirely necessary, please switch it off. We will be taking care of automation during the mixing stage anyway.

Reverb & Effects

You can leave reverb active if you want the exact effect you've added in your song.

Bounce any effects aux returns tracks set to 100% wet as separate files.

If you prefer certain tracks to have reverb as an insert for creative reasons, please keep it enabled. However, we advise against this if it’s not an essential part of the sound, as we cannot remove it.

We will add reverb and effects as needed during the mixing process.

Feel free to add suggestions and references to the mix notes for the style of ambience you’re looking for.

File Organisation

Clearly label your tracks with the only the essential information. This is our suggested format:

TRACK NUMBER_TRACK NAME_(OPTIONAL) PANNING POSITION

e.g. 16_Rhythm Guitar_30 Left

Organise your tracks within a folder and name the folder in the following format:

TITLE_ARTIST_DATE (DDMMYY)

Please create a subfolder for any additional materials such as rough mixes and dry back up versions of tracks. This way we can clearly see they are not included in the project tracks.

Compress the entire folder into a .zip file

In the booking tool, upload your folder during the booking process for each individual song you are building a mix package for.

Rough Mix

If you have a rough mix that conveys the energy and general balance you’re after, it’s helpful if you could upload it along with the other tracks. Please label it ’ROUGH MIX’. It will not be included in your track count.

Frequently asked questions

What Is Mixing?

The mixing phase involves meticulously combining each individual track of your song to craft a complete stereo mix. Through the application of EQ, compression, reverb, delay, and various other techniques, we have the capacity to manipulate and position each track, ultimately attaining a well-balanced mix that is primed for the mastering stage.

What is the turnaround?

The initial mix is typically completed within approximately 7-10 business days after receiving payment for your order.

Revisions to the mix are prioritised and carried out promptly. The overall time frame is strongly influenced by the responsiveness of the client, relying on timely feedback for revisions within the 14 day window to ensure a smooth progression towards the final version of the mix.

Opting for the “Rush Service" option will propel your order to the front of the queue, resulting in expedited processing, within 2 working days. However, the ultimate turnaround period still hinges on how swiftly the client provides feedback for revisions and final approval.

What is an alternate mix?

When you include any of the "Alternate Mixes” options in your order, you will be provided with the corresponding stereo mixes for any of the additional types listed below:

  • Instrumental (without vocal tracks)

  • Accapella (vocal tracks only)

  • Radio Edit (same tracks as original version, but different in duration - additional edited versions of the tracks must be supplied)

  • Other (a custom selection of tracks within the project)

What are mixed stems?

By choosing the "Mixed Stems" add-on for your order, you will receive all stems precisely as they are mixed within the session.

These mixed stems encompass groups of instruments and vocal parts mixed into separate stereo files, as well as individual effects stems.

Playback of these mixed stems replicates the final stereo mix. These mixed stems can be valuable for remixing and further production purposes.

When do I pay for mixing?

Payment is made prior to commencing work on your music during the booking process.

This approach ensures that our engineers can dedicate the required time and precision to provide you with the highest quality mix and master.

How should I send tracks?

You can upload your tracks safely and securely through our booking form here

A detailed guide on how to export tracks correctly can be found here

How many mix revisions can I make?

Mix revisions are free within the 14 day timeframe from the initial mix delivery.

Please ensure you offer feedback within a timely manner. If you request revisions past this date an additional fee of £50 will be incurred per revision.

Should I send a rough mix I have done?

Absolutely, this is crucial when collaborating with an online mix engineer. The rough mix or demo mix plays a pivotal role in confirming that the sent stems playback accurately.

Moreover, the rough mix helps set the overall balance you desire for each stem within the mix. By analysing the rough mix, we can determine the intended volume and placement of specific sounds in the mix in addition to the desired emotional tone and impact.

What if I accidentally send the wrong tracks for mixing?

Reach out to us through email, and we can easily swap out the files for you.

It's important to contact us as soon as possible to ensure we have the right files for mixing before we begin. If we've already started working on your mix and you need to provide entirely new tracks, there may be additional charges.

What kind of genres do you mix?

An experienced mix engineer can work with a wide range of music genres, without being restricted to any single one. We're proud of our capability to collaborate across a full spectrum of musical styles.

We also understand the significance of production style in specific music genres. To help you achieve your desired outcome with minimal revisions, we recommend providing reference tracks and detailed notes to communicate your vision as clearly as possible.

Should I leave panning active?

Please send us the stems without panning and provide notes on how you want them panned. Just include the stem names and their positions, for example "Lead Guitar - 75 Left" or "Rhythm Guitar - 30 Right.”

Should I leave automation active?

If it's a crucial part of your production and sound design, definitely keep automation turned on.

Otherwise, if it’s just functional volume automation please leave it inactive, as we will be taking care of this during the mixing process anyway.

Should I leave reverb active?

You can leave reverb active if you want the exact reverb you've added in your song.

While we'll add reverb as needed, you may want a specific reverb to match your mix precisely. In this case, please supply a bounce of the reverb track set to 100% wet on the mix control within the plugin.

Keep any creative reverb that's inserted on a track active if it’s part of the sound design for the production.

However, we do request that you send us both the wet (processed) and dry (unprocessed) versions for effects that can be easily recreated, such as realistic reverbs.

This gives us the freedom to enhance your concepts if necessary. If you're unsure, providing both options is best.

Any duplicate dry versions will be excluded from the track count and will not increase the price. Please label the unprocessed versions of tracks with DRY SAFETY.

Should I Leave Delay Active?

Absolutely, delay can bring about many different effects. If you've added a delay that's exactly how you want it to sound, it's part of your creative work. Removing it would take away an important part of your sound.

It's best to leave delay active if you want it in your track.

If delays are on an aux send, please supply a bounce of the delay track set to 100% wet on the mix control within the plugin.

Otherwise, if inserted directly onto a track, please leave it active whilst exporting your tracks.

You are also welcome to send us another version of tracks without the effects, labelled with DRY SAFETY.

Any duplicate dry versions will be excluded from the track count and will not increase the price.

Can I send raw vocal recordings?

Vocals need to be organised, comped and edited without clicks, pops, or unwanted noises.

They should be tuned and time adjusted to their desired amount and silent sections stripped. It's not advisable to send raw, unedited vocals for mixing.

However, we do offer an additional service if you need assistance with tuning and timing editing for £40 per track.

Can you tune vocals?

We offer the inclusion of detailed tuning and timings editing for vocals for an additional price of £40 per track.

What is a revision?

A revision is an updated version of the mix which addresses any changes requested by the client.

For example; volume balance adjustments, adjusting the wet/dry balance on effects, automation moves etc.

What if my mix still needs more revisions?

There is no limit on the number of revisions within the 14 day window, starting from the delivery date of the initial mix.

However, if additional revisions  are requested outside of this window, they can be completed for an additional fee of £50 per revision.

How many tracks of audio can I send?

Our online mix rates are based on a 96 track limit.

If you have more channels, not to worry, we can accommodate your needs for an additional fee £3 per track.

How many songs can I have mixed within the 7-10 day turnaround?

Our estimate of 7-10 days for mixing is calculated for a maximum of 4 songs per project.

If you have more than 4 songs that need mixing, feel free to make a booking. We can accommodate this, but the turnaround time might exceed our typical 7-10 day goal.

Once your booking is confirmed, we'll provide you with a revised estimate for the turnaround via email.

What do I get?

Depending on what you ordered during the original booking process, once the mix is complete, we can send you a combination of the following files:

  • Full resolution stereo mix

  • Limited reference mix (16bit/44.1k WAV & MP3)

  • Instrumental mix

  • Accappella mix

  • Radio Edit
  • Mix
Mixed Stems

How long can a song be?

As long as you want!

Our 7-10 day turnaround is based on the idea songs will generally be around or under 5 to 8 minutes.

If you’re booking a group of songs that are longer than this that’s totally fine, it just may affect our ability to complete the songs within 7-10 days.

We’ll give you an an estimated delivery date with the booking confirmation via email based on the amount of time required to complete the mix.

To compensate for the added workload, longer duration tracks over 8 minutes will incur an additional cost. This is calculated on the percentage of time over this duration, multiplied by the base cost of the mix.

Can I submit references?

Submitting reference tracks is strongly advised to ensure that the mix aligns with your intended sound.

If you have a particular direction in mind for your song, please share what you'd like it to be compared to and provide notes outlining the aspects you like in the reference.

Feel free to send multiple references, and we'll take them into consideration during the mix.

When and how do I pay?

For online mixes, payment is necessary at the time of booking. Once the payment has been processed, we'll start working on your song.

You have the option to pay with a debit or credit card when doing the online checkout.

What files should I deliver?

We require audio files exported from your session with the original sample rate and bit depth they were recorded at.

It's important that all audio files start from the same point in the DAW project, and are in WAV or AIFF format (44.1, 48, 88.2, or 96KHZ). Ensure the bit depth is either 24-bit or 32-bit Floating Point.

If you have MIDI instruments, please bounce or convert them into audio files.

For a detailed guide on delivering your files correctly, you can refer to the instructions provided here

Wet or Dry files, which would you like?

In most cases, we prefer to start from where you left off. Please commit any effects or processing that play a crucial role in the overall sound design. Essentially, the sound you've crafted is what we'll work with.

Can you fix the timing or tuning of some tracks?

Certainly, but please note that this falls under an additional paid service.

Please be aware that if the tracks require significant editing, it might extend the turnaround time beyond the 7-10 day estimate.

Do you need to know the tempo?

It’s not always necessary, but if editing is required it makes the process much easier knowing how tracks fit to the grid if we have the exact tempo and time signature information.

Some DAWs will also allow you to add this as metadata to the audio files when exporting.

If that’s not an option you can export a blank MIDI track from your session and it should write the necessary tempo map information within it.

Do you offer refunds?

We do hope its never the case but if you are unhappy with your online mix and don't want to proceed with the revision process we will offer you a full refund.

We will refund your full purchase price providing one or more of these conditions are met:

  • Your bank / Paypal account was fraudulently charged

  • You provide a reasonable explanation why the refund needs to be made

  • Work on your project has not yet commenced

What is re-amping?

Re-amping is simply taking a pre-recorded track and running it through hardware effect processors and amplifiers, to then re-record the signal back into the session.

This is a helpful option if you don’t have the means of recording convincing guitar and bass tones with your own setup.

If you want a track, such as DI guitar or bass, to be re-recorded through a chain of high-quality pedals, amplifiers, microphones, and outboard equipment, we highly recommend this service.

Please provide a description and a link to a reference track for the intended tone in the info box.

How much will mixing and my song cost?

The pricing is determined by your chosen mix services.

The starting point for a basic mix package can be as low as £80, while premium packages can go up to £500+ based on your specific mix needs.

We offer complete customisation, allowing you to select the mix options you want for your song to ensure you only pay for what you need.

To receive a personalised price and an overview of all our services, please click here and follow the instructions.

What if I want to change something during the mixing process?

Included in every package is the option for you to say after the mix has been delivered if there are any changes you would like us to make.

We call these “revisions”.

We then open up your mixing session project and send back to you the requested alterations to ensure you are happy with your final result.

There is no limit on the number of revisions within the 14 day window, starting from the delivery date of the initial mix.

However, if additional revisions  are requested outside of this window, they can be completed for an additional fee of £50 per revision.

What is a track?

A Track is an audio file that typically spans all or part of a song, even when it isn’t continuously producing sound. Tracks can be in either mono or stereo depending on the source material.

What is a stem?

A Stem is a separate audio file that represents a specific group of elements, like drums, guitars, bass, or vocals, in a song. When combined, these Stems should recreate the full mix.

Stems don’t have to be stereo; for example, a single track like a lead vocal can be a Stem.

Some people mistakenly call their individual tracks Stems, which can cause confusion.

What is a rough mix?

A Rough Mix is an initial version of a song that isn’t intended to be the final mix. It might be created to review what was recorded during a session or could be a nearly complete mix that needs more work.

What is a Bus?

A Bus is a channel that receives audio signals from other channels through routing.

It lets you combine multiple tracks in one place for easier level control or to apply shared processing, like compressing a combination of musical elements at the same time.

What is an Aux?

An Aux (auxiliary) send is typically used to send signals from a track to processing, like reverb, delay, or parallel processing, which is then blended back into the mix via an Aux return.

Aux sends can be switched to be either PFL or AFL, which mean the signal is sent either before or after the main volume fader on the channel. Each option has different applications.

What is parallel processing?

Parallel processing is when a copy of a signal is made, either through an aux send or by duplicating a track to then be processed differently to the original source. This processed version is then blended back in to the main mix.

This is useful as you can adjust the balance between the unprocessed and processed sound to hear a combination of the sonic characteristics of both versions.

What is an Insert?

An Insert point is a routing spot where you can add processing, like a compressor or EQ, to a channel, bus, or aux return/input. It’s important to know where the Insert is in the signal path—whether it's before or after the fader or EQ—and to pay attention to gain staging.
